We picked Vinetrekker out of a lengthy list of options because it went to the estates we wanted to visit and it guaranteed small groups.
The minibus and driver, Joseph collected us from the hotel on time and the van was clean and comfortable. Joseph was a really good guide, amusing, knowledgeable and good at organizing our group of 10 to gather when required.
We visited 5 estates, had lunch at one of them and cheese tasting with wine at another, all well thought out.
Joseph was flexible in his approach if the group were enjoying an estate tour he would stay longer, if he saw that the group were losing interest we would move on.
The lunch at Chandon was excellent much better than expected or experienced on other tours and of course accompanied by local wine.
We were collected at 0815 and dropped back at the hotel at 5.30 pm so it was a long, but very enjoyable day. The drive to Yarra through the suburbs of Melbourne and then some lovely countryside takes about an hour and 15 minutes.
We had a very nice group that all got on together and I suppose that is the one thing that can’t be controlled.
A great day out with some fabulous wine, highly recommended and book early as we couldn’t have our first choice day.
We went on this trip to see the countryside around Melbourne and taste a wide variety of Yarra Valley wines and food. Stephen, our guide and driver was friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The lunch was very high quality.
Good reviews meant we booked it for two of us and we had a ball. Just 10 on the tour with Stephen our guide. Visited corporate and family run wineries with about 6 tastings per visit!!
Nice lunch too at Yering station.
It was a rainy day but it made no difference to this tour. Highly recommended.
We didn’t check Trip Advisor and walked straight into the Tourist Information centre at Federation Sq where we picked up a whole bunch of leaflets all promoting Yarra Valley Day Tours. We were so glad we picked “vinetrekker”. We can definitely recommend the Yarra Valley Food and Wind Daytour – a wonderful day excursion to explore the Yarra Valley wine region. Paul was our guide for the day and he is so personable which made the trip so much more enjoyable. Firstly, pick-up/drop-off can be arranged at your door. This is a small group tour 9-10 people at most (as opposed to 20) which we really liked. Visited 5 vineyards with lots of tastings and sampling. We were not rushed at all and felt very relaxed and took our time tasting/discussing as a group what we tried. Lunch was absolutely wonderful at the Yering Station we were able to order from the a la carte menu with a glass of wine paired with the dish ordered. The minivan was very comfortable we were picked up at 8:45am and didn’t get back to our hotel by about 6:30pm so a good day’s outing!
Our tour to the Yarra Valley with Vinetrekker was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Melbourne. We wanted to go wine tasting while in Melbourne, but many of the other tours seemed too frenetic and jam-packed with multiple activities for our taste. Vinetrekker’s Food and Wine day tour was perfect. Our guide, Joseph, picked us up at our hotel and led our group of 8 to the Yarra Valley for a day of delicious wines and food. Joseph was knowledgeable and friendly and even drove off the road to a farm stand for an impromptu detour for fresh strawberries. The Yarra Valley is breathtaking and the tour offered us time to taste at 5 different wineries with some time to explore the wineries (and their gift shops!) at our leisure. Lunch was at Yering Station, a restaurant that would be notable enough for its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the valley, but also offered an exceptional meal. A later wine and cheese pairing at the De Bortoli winery capped off an excellent day. Just go: It’s an excellent introduction to the Yarra Valley and an overall gorgeous and fun day.
Paul was a lovely host from the get go. Being a local, i was expecting to be familiar with some of the locations we would visit. I was happy to find each location visited was new to us. We were warmly greeted at each location by friendly staff with a wealth of knowledge and passion for what they shared. Each venue was unique in character to the next, and were beautiful spaces to discover. We would happily recommend this tour to those looking for something a little more special to the standard wine tours offered.
