An Early Start
The Yarra Valley is one of Australia’s most famous hot-air ballooning destinations, so get ready to generate some incredible memories.
Your day starts very early, pre-dawn when you depart your accommodation for the Yarra Valley. We will pick you up at your city hotel and we will escort you to the designated balloon-briefing site.
Get Ready to Fly
Get hands-on and assist with the balloon launch or freely enjoy capturing the experience through photos. And then, you’re airbound! You’ll silently drift above Yarra Glen, the vineyards and the meandering Yarra River. After flying for approximately 1 hour, you’ll descend to pack up the balloon before travelling through to Balgownie Estate Vineyard for a hearty champagne breakfast.
Coldstream Hills Winery Tasting
Coldstream Hills is a perfect location to kick off the first wine tasting of the day. Established by one of Australia’s leading authors and commentators on wine, James Halliday, you’ll be enthralled by their award-winning chardonnay and pinot noir.
Medhurst Vineyard & Domaine Chandon Sparkling
It’s then a short drive to the charming Medhurst Vineyard. Established in 1999, the family owned vineyard of 35 acres sits in the dress circle of the Yarra Valley and produces a small selection of well crafted and elegant table wines. Close by is the very famous and very French Domaine Chandon. Choose from a range of premium sparkling wines (methode champenoise) while taking in the stunning vista.
Yering Station Lunch & Tasting
Yering Station is the site of Victoria’s first vineyard in 1838 and a terrific place to enjoy a memorable lunch. The modern Wine Bar Restaurant affords glorious views across farmland to the Great Dividing Range and here we’ll sit down for an a la carte lunch in one of Australia’s most spectacular venues.
Post-lunch, adjourn to the historic red-brick building (c.1859) for wine-tasting. The original winery how houses a produce store, art gallery and cellar door.
De Bortoli Vineyard Tasting & Cheese Degustation
As Italian as Domaine Chandon is French, you’ll love this taste of Italian-Australian heritage. With 3 generations of family ownership, De Bortoli is also one of Victoria’s most-loved wineries. It’s a perfect way to finish the day, including a cheese degustation to compliment your tasting of the sparkling, table and dessert wines on offer.
There is just one thing for you to do - sit back and enjoy the ride as you savor your precious new memories. Passing through Steels Creek and Christmas Hills, just make sure to keep an eye out for the occasional kangaroo!
